The ocean is calling

I had every intent to sandwich and start quilting Bailey's quilt today, but took a detour. It was a fun detour! I have a good friend who has a birthday this week and wanted to make her a thread painted picture.  I found a photo I took when she and I, years ago, headed out to the beach for a day. We both LOVE the ocean and feel God's presence so vividly there and see the awesomeness of his power and the beauty of his creation all in one fabulous place.

With the help and hints from Alison Holt's Machine Embroidered Landscapes I set off on my adventure to try to recreate in thread the ocean waves as they break coming onto shore. I'm quite pleased with how this piece has turned out.
