Make a Pearl
"The most extraordinary thing about the oyster is this.
Irritations get into his shell...
When he cannot get rid of them,
he uses the irritations to do
the loveliest thing an oyster ever has a chance to do.
If there are irritations in our lives today,
there is only one prescription:
make a pearl.
It may have to be a pearl of patience,
but anyhow, make a pearl.
And it takes faith and love to do it."

Threadwork Thursday
Cape Meares, OR
Built in 1890, Cape Meares Light served as the light station for Tillamook Bay. When it was built, the lighthouse complex included two keeper's houses, two oil houses, and two cisterns, and was connected to the light by a 1,000 feet (300 m) boardwalk. Later additions included an attached workroom in 1895 and a garage in 1934. The light itself was iron-plated, and due to its exposure to the elements, required frequent repainting over the years. No foghorn was ever installed at Cape Meares. In 1934, the light received electricity. Now unnecessary, the oil houses were removed.

Oregon Rocks
The Oregon Coast is one of my favorite "go to" places. It is a beautiful coastline, filled with awesome scenery, a variety of lighthouses, great seafood, fun shops, wonderful beaches and ocean views. Cannon Beach is a favorite for many. It has a great eclectic downtown area, a wonderful quilt shop - Center Diamond check it out here, and of course the famous Haystack Rock.
