Hooray! I got the Heirloom Romance pieced together. I'm so pleased with how it is looking. The photo really does not do it justice. The next step is the border. I knew I wasn't going to do the border design on the pattern so I started thinking about what could be done. I had an idea for a sawtooth border, in lieu of making prairie points, my first idea. I did a web search and found a great site for border patterns and ideas:
I found a border there I liked even better -- the ribbon border. Using my EQ7 program I designed that border to size so I could figure out how much fabric I needed for it.
Next was the fabric for it. The background Heirloom Romance purses fabric that I used in the quilt is no longer readily available, but with some internet surfing/searching I found just what I wanted/needed on eBay and got it ordered. The vendor is just over the mountains from me so it got here fast!
Friday my sister and I went to a Quilt Show in Tri Cities. It was a great show with lots of wonderful quilts and ideas. We shopped the vendors as I still needed the ribbon fabrics. I found a piece that could work and was a great deal, so purchased it and starting looking for a companion for it. Didn't find anything at the show. On our way home we stopped at a great quilt shop in Prosser:
They have two buildings and we went back and forth several times with potential fabrics. I was wearing out, but we found two new fabrics (the other one I bought will be used for something for Miss Bailey I think) that will be wonderful for the quilt.
They are from Robyn Pandoph's 'Incense and Peppermints' collection:
Hoping to work on it some this week.Once the border is on I'll do more hand embroidery on the crazy quilt blocks.
Looks wonderful! Every time I see Bailey's sweet laugh it makes me smile.
